Why Horizon?

Horizon has been developing and managing Senior Housing since 1984 and is committed to providing safe, affordable and well maintained housing. During the past 20+ years, we have developed 66 senior apartment communities totaling 3,359 units. Currently, Horizon manages 47 senior apartment communities totaling approximately 2,500 units in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. Our focus is on serving seniors, as 96% of the units we manage serve adults 55 and older.

Horizon’s mission is to provide our residents with the opportunity to have a sense of community at our apartment homes. Many of our residents have stated it was an extremely difficult decision to move from their home into an apartment home, but, after making the move to a Horizon property wondered why they did not move sooner. Although they moved from their home where many fond memories were created, many had felt isolated in their homes and welcomed the opportunity to socialize with the many new friends at their new apartment home.

We believe strongly in providing community rooms as a focus in all of our properties to give our residents the ability to enjoy each others' company. You will not find our community rooms in the basement of the building as an after thought. Rather, they are on the first floor appointed with a kitchen area to allow our residents to enjoy potlucks, bingo, cards, and entertainment with each other. Our community rooms are also available for family get togethers when a little more space is needed for entertaining.
