Saxony Manor

Saxony Manor is owned by Franciscan Ministries, Inc.,a non-profit provider of affordable housing. This development, constructed in 1970, did not have an accessible community room and had no elevators to serve the fourteen two-story buildings in the development.

Franciscan Ministries engaged Horizon to apply for Section 42 Housing Tax credits to allow for the construction of a community building and connection to three residential buildings; thereby providing accessibility to 21% of the residential units. As part of the remodel, all residents were temporarily relocated so that extensive renovations could be completed in each unit.

The new community building houses a 5,800 square foot community room with a full kitchen and accessible offices for the property management staff and the resident service coordinators, who serve the residents. In addition, the Housing Tax credit will allow for adding a sprinkler system in all fourteen buildings.
