CoCo Key - Kansas City

The water resort addition to the Sheraton Kansas City Sports Complex Hotel is an indoor, tropical getaway.  Equipped with twisting water slides, an adventure river, large play structure, indoor/outdoor spa and other aquatic attractions, the facility is a destination for all ages.  The water resort also features a large arcade, several party rooms and a themed lounge area.  The entire space was designed to emulate historic Key West, Florida and provides a relaxing, cost-effective escape for families near and far.  Horizon coordinated the entire design and construction process, including architectural, engineering, aquatics and theming to build the one-of-a-kind resort.  Horizon also assisted with site due diligence and project entitlement services.

As an additional service to the project owner, Horizon pursued $4.6 million in tax abatements as part of Kansas City’s re-development plan.  Horizon coordinated extra improvements to the hotel property and worked closely with Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (MBE and WBE) to help advance the City’s mission.
