Expera Specialty Solutions
Aspects of this project:
Expera Specialty Solutions is a Wisconsin based employer of over 1800 individuals and is the nation’s largest manufacturer of specialty coated papers.
The renovation of Historic Eagle Mill, achieved with the help of local, state and federal Historic Tax Credits, made it possible for Expera to move their headquarters to the location. The Historic Eagle Mill, constructed in various stages between 1872 and 1890 was renovated in 2015. The Mill, is believed by many, to be the first paper mill in Wisconsin to use wood pulp in the manufacturing of paper.
Expera chose to move into the top floor of the renovated structure which feature great views of the Fox River. Expera’s offices are of a contemporary design with references to the company and mill’s history.
Horizon worked directly with Expera executives and their designers throughout the design process to insure that the project would come in within the defined project budget.
The completed offices feature exposed stone walls, original structure and exposed wood ceilings soaring to heights of 25 feet above the office floor.
