Four-story senior development proposed for Elm Grove
A 75-unit, four-story apartment building for seniors is being proposed in Elm Grove.
Horizon Development Group Inc. is proposing the project, known as Elm Grove Heights, for 13040 W. Blue Mound Road, just east of the intersection of Elm Grove and Blue Mound roads.
Elm Grove Heights would offer one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors who can live independently, according to plans filed with the village.
The building would range from three to four stories and include underground parking for residents.
Elm Grove Heights also would feature amenities such as a club room, exercise room and a pergola overlooking a creek on the site's northern portion.
Zoning for the development site, a vacant lot, allows apartments, according to the proposal.
But the project's proposed size requires "flexibility from some of the village's current zoning requirements, specifically as it relates to parking, density and building setbacks," according to a letter to village officials from Will Rutherford, a Horizon development associate.
The Plan Commission is to review Horizon's conceptual proposal at its May 7 meeting.
Madison-based Horizon's other Milwaukee-area projects include the Cedar Glen senior apartments, at 1661 Rivers Bend, Wauwatosa.
