City of Chilton officials were among the people who gathered last Wednesday afternoon for a ceremonial groundbreaking of the new Uptown Commons building adjacent to the existing building in the city’s downtown. Gathering for the groundbreaking were (front, from left) Dexter Sattler, Redevelopment Authority member; Alderman Mark Wiegert; mayor and Redevelopment Authority member Rick Jaeckels; Alderman Ron Gruett; Scott Kwiecinski, development manager of the Horizon Development Group, Inc.; and Wayne Wieting and Steven Mueller, both of the Redevelopment Authority; and (back) Greg Garton, Redevelopment Authority; Brian Kennedy, project superintendent for Horizon; and City of Chilton Director of Public Works Todd Schwarz.
City of Chilton officials and Horizon Development Group marked the beginning of a new construction project in Chilton on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
An official ground breaking ceremony took place at the construction site of Uptown Commons II, a 24-unit affordable senior housing project located at 29 W. Main St.. The project is directly next door to the 40-unit Uptown Commons apartment community that opened in 2009. Site work was already under way as of Wednesday with crews working to excavate material for the start of footings and foundations.
